AECP 2 - Beyond Basics - DIY Stencil

Hello there,

Thank you for stopping by at my blog! If you are new here - let me introduce myself to you. I am Ishani and you can find me on Instagram, Facebook and You tube too. Today, I am sharing a project that is a submission for Altenew's Educator Certification Program. I have been sharing my projects for the AECP Course since some time and you can find them all under the label - AECP.

In the Beyond Basic backgrounds - Lesson 1, the instructor uses dies for making a stencil and I thought of creating a stencil for an adorable stamp set that I have - Birds of Wood layering stamp. I  used rainbow colors for stenciling the colors and stamped the eye and then dry embossed my bird panel with Walnut branch 3D embossing folder.

I had a bit of struggle about how to have my branch under the bird and decided to go the conventional way of stamping, dicutting and adhering it below the stenciled bird. I added some colorful sequins around it and a sentiment of a speech bubble.

I am really happy with how it turned out - because initially I was skeptical. I was more inclined to do safe stencil with floral dies and this seemed - over ambitious. But I am glad that these lessons are making me not only try different techniques (that I love to learn) but are also giving me the courage to do something different.

I hope you like my Beyond Basic Bird <3
