Diwali Blog Hop - 2019

Namaste and welcome to our little hop.

Few of us cardmakers along with some lovely companies have got together to make this festival season, brighter and happier. Not just for us crafters but also for the people who are responsible for making this day possible. Our dear soldiers. From the snow capped glaciers to the deep forest in the east, to the sand dunes of west to the deep waters of the Indian Ocean, our soldiers are on duty 24 x 7.

A little about Diwali
Blog hop, Diwali card, Craftangles, stenciling, Alcohol inks, Glimmer paste, Quillish, Craftangles small ganeshas stencil, craftangles diwali sentiments, craftangles alcohol ink paper

On the day of Diwali, it is a custom to worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha (the Elephant head God) . The Goddess Lakshmi, is the Goddess of wealth, fortune, luxury and prosperity (both material and spiritual) while Lord Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the ‘Deva’ of intellect and wisdom. People worship these two deities together to welcome wealth along with intelligence. Since no celebration is deemed complete without invoking Lord Ganesha, Diwali is no exception either. Ganesha is considered as the remover of all obstacles. Hence, He is worshipped first to get rid of all the obstacles that hinder our growth. Along with that, worshipping the forms of Goddess Mahalakshmi is the most crucial part of Diwali. It is said that on the night of Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi visits each house and blesses everyone with great wealth. I have a video tutorial focusing on Goddess Lakshmi cards here, if you'd like to see.

So I planned to make a card with Lord Ganesh for this hop, with our sponsor CrafTangles products. I have a video tutorial for this card and I have linked all the supplies in the description box below.

I hope you would enjoy watching it and consider subscribing, if you haven't yet.

Card Drive
As we are neck-deep in our celebrations, surrounded by our families, it would really be ungrateful if we miss to remember all those Real-life heroes who make it possible for us to enjoy all this securely and fearlessly, in our homes. As a token of our gratitude and to acknowledge their   sacrifice for us, we sent out handmade cards to a few Army units all over our country, as a part of this hop. A small effort from our side to convey that they are in our thoughts and prayers.

As some of you know that I was a soldier, hence it was easy for me to make the thought a reality. The most secular organization of India is the Armed Forces and has deep respect to each other's religion. Diwali is one of the festival, which brings all religions together, it is not just a Hindu festival, it is Festival of Indians. Every Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist and Hindu lights lamps on Diwali, for peace, prosperity and happiness.

This festive season, let us thank them.t because they are guarding our borders, we are sleeping peacefully. We feel secure because our brothers and sisters are working tirelessly, so that no untoward incident happens in our country. God bless them all.

  15. Superb card i have no words for your creativity .... Firstly I thought that background is a pattern paper or some digitised form .... But when i actually saw how you created it , i was like wow man , this is so amazing and relaxing to watch. Secondly , talking about the gold ganesha i thought you have sprinkled glitter using fevicol but then it was actually a paste and i am like woah how does your brain singnals you that now you have to use this tool or element to make this and now this and so on to make such beautiful and marvellous cards that doesn't even look Handmade .... They are so perfectly and neatly done.
Lastly , what a great initiative to make our soldiers feel special and connected . I really love this idea and would like to join from next year.
Wishing you and your family a very happy Diwali !! Keep creating and spreading good vibes ❤️

  19. This is a great gesture to all our brothers and sisters in the inform and I feel so proud to be one serving our nation with such thoughtful countrymen who express their gratitude on this beautiful festival of lights. There are thousands of soldiers who would be celebrating this festival away from their homes and families. I can't express the feeling they would have when they would receive these cards through their COs.
As a budding crafter, you've allured me to the alcohol inks ; they could be that fun I never knew that.. Another thing that goes in my wish list.. And yes the way you have made Ganeshji really look like made of gold is so surreal. I'm completely awwww... spired by the whole ensemble. There's so much of layering and each layer has a different technique.. Totally in 😍
