Hello everyone!
I am so happy you stopped by! Today I am sharing a project I made - which may not look perfect to you but for me it's a big leap inti trying different techniques and getting comfortable with watercolors. The
latest contest at Altenew - Pair a flower intrigued me to try something I may not have otherwise tried.
I am someone who cannot go outside the lines of a stamped flower. I love the movement and organic results of watercolors but I am hesitant to add color to the pool of water and let it move. So I took this challenge and the lovely Altenew 24 pan set watercolor and planned to paint a memory.
I didn't want to use stamps for this project (not that I even had cosmos stamps (the memory :P) so I took out the beautiful Craft-a-flower Cosmos layering dies. I am a big fan of Aster family flowers - Cosmos, Daisies, Asters and in my childhood we lived at a place where some of them grew as wild flowers. So were there were meadows of Cosmos. If you have lived in Maharashtra in India, you may know what am I talking about.
So I looked for an image on Google (here is the source) and this image appealed to me because of the way there was focus on the flowers and the blur of the background. I said a little prayer and reminded myself, even if it didn't work, it's just a paper!
Here's my cosmos meadow - I was happy with the way it turned out and to confirm that it was just not me, I sent it to my no 1 Critic - my mother and she has done oil paintings herself so if she said it was nice, I believed and decided to frame it.
I added my flowers and leaves and for the sentiment I turned to my most used sentiment stamp - True friends stamp set which has some of the most lovely sentiments!
I added foam tape behind two of the flowers and the one near the sentiment was adhered with glue.
Here are the two meadows in one picture!
I have a video tutorial - where I share quick ideas with just one stamp, for the lazy days!
