One die - Two Decorative Enamel Diwali cards - Altenew

Hello everyone,

A very quick post to share two Diwali cards, I made inspired by the Inspiration challenge hosted by Hannelie Bester at Altenew Blog.

The color palette was soo yuummy and also Festive for our ongoing festive season and perfect for Diwali, the festival of lights that is coming in November. Perfect reason to make cards.

Inspiration Challenge 2023 10 SQ Option 1
I recently got the beautiful dies - Decorative Enamel dies and although it may look like a Persian design or to some like a Christmas Ornament, it reminded me of the floral designs we make on our floors (front doors) on auspicious days, like Diwali - like these. I belong to one of the Northern states in India and there this art is made with Rice flour paste and is called Likhnu, but these are made with colorful sand across the country and in Eastern states and Southern Indian states with Rice paste, where the staple food is Rice. It also is said that Rice flour is an offering to the ants. Maybe to keep them busy collecting rice from the front door while we eat sweet treats inside the house :D

So I did some arm workout by cutting colorful cardstock with these beautiful dies and made two cards.

I die cut three different cardstocks and adhered them in a way it looked like a colorful background. For the sentiment I used a sentiment by Crafty Meraki's Happy Diwali stamp set.

Gold heat embossed the sentiment and added some gems in the center of the design.

For my second card I did a little of in-laid diecutting technique for a CAS card.

This card to me also gives the look of Kandeels - that are hung during Diwali - here is a look at the traditional kandeels.

I hope you like my cards - I loved how these colors made them look so festive. I may have not tried these myself if not for the colors of the inspiration challenge.

Here are some easy Diwali card ideas for you to try!
