Hi Everyone!
I am a little late to share with you and also join the party - of being enrolled for Altenew's Educator Certification Program! But I am Super Excited to be joining Altenew Academy to learn more and am here to share with you my assignments for the AECP Certification Program. Life was tough this year and even though I thought my hobby will make my days better, I had no head space for it. Finally, God has been kind to give me days that are better than the last few months and I started with something that I love to make and would be more in my comfort zone as I start to craft again - with lessons on CAS Boutique cards by Jen Rzasa.
I must admit that my last few cards have been influenced by the classes I have been attending. It's just that I didn't do the assignment specific for this course. But if you go through my blog, my last few cards are super inspired from what I have learnt from classes of Jen Rzasa and Yana Smakula.
There were loads of gorgeous inspiration in the CAS Boutique cards class, and it was hard for me to focus on only one of the showcased techniques. I took the inspiration from Lesson 1 by Jen, where she talks of simple styling and plays along with a black pen to do some doodling. I was drawn to an example by Marika Rahtu and thought of getting some coloring done on one of the floral stamps from CYL kit Hello Beautiful and added a little frame doodle for my flowers.
With a little break in my creative life, I have not been able to play along at my favorite monthly challenge at Altenew Inspiration challenges. But I thought for my HWs for the AECP, I can go ahead and look for the color inspiration from the challenge. So here I took the pretty colors from Emily's hosted challenge.
I started with stamping one of the floral cluster from CYL kit Hello Beautiful stamp set at a corner with a light ink and then used Altenew Artist markers R502, R504 and G503 for a light layer of colors and then I got some Polychromos in similar colors to color the flowers and the leaves. In the example by Marika, she makes shadows for the flower but because of the way this stamp was, I couldn't have it laid on a plane so I took the idea and made the shadows around the flowers, that I made with some grey pencils that help them pop out a bit.
I was also in a mood to incorporate typography for this card but then thought it may get a bit too busy and I should practice restraint. Next I thought of adding doodles. The scare had set in that I will spoil all the hard work I put in coloring, if I got too adventurous to make some tendrils around the flower. So after contemplating what I could add as a doodle, make some dots similar to splatters like Erum does or just go around to make a frame? I decided to do the latter. I also thought that this is a perfect time to make some new year card - so I chose this sentiment from Airbrushed flowers set - which is perfect and depending on the occasion I can write Happy new year or happy birthday inside the card. I stamped the sentiment with Obsidian black ink and tadaaa.. here is my first Home work complete.
I am so glad I took this course! The instructors go in such little details that I have not even thought of, even though I have been stamping since 2017. Hope you all like my attempt to make a CAS Boutique card.
