Twice in a day?? Yes ..and ready with another AECP homework done! And today I share with you my Artsy floral card which is a learning from the Celebrations - Stencil Techniques taught by Laurel Beard . Stencils are so versatile and Altenew stencils are absolutely amazing. Not just for the backgrounds, but the floral design are a star in themselves. Before the layering stencils created the magic in the craft world, I had bought the Floral Drape stencil (now retired). And even though I have had it for years, I had not had an opportunity to use them. This class by Laurel Beard - was the kick that I needed to give it some love and I used the lessons learnt from her class for this card.
I am incorporating learnings from Lesson 3 - Stamping with Stencils, and Lesson 4 - Stencil Overlay (which was about watercolor through stencils). I started with Stamping with Stencil and used Ultramarine ink over my stencil, spritz water and lay it over my watercolor cardstock. This way I got the blue wash, leaving place to color for the flowers.
Then I use some dye inks - smoosh them and water on a slick surface and with my Stencil now over the cardstock, I add the color with brush, this when dries - gives beautiful wash of colors. After they dried, I intensified at some areas with blending same inks. After that I traced the stencil with a black pen - with the confidence from Jen Rzasa's Boutique cards class.
I die cut Enjoy die with black cardstock and mount it on 3D tape and finish off with some dew drops.
I absolutely enjoyed making this card - a bit scared - a bit 'let me try' mode - and I am happy I tried.
I hope you like it too.
