The challenge theme is:

Birds of a Feather

I am very excited for this challenge and also - for my card, because I went out of my comfort zone for this. Recently, as part of Cardmaker Success Summit - as a speaker I was asked which is a technique or style that I fear. And Mixed Media is a style I love but I think  it's the CAS in me that pulls me back from adding more. So I tried to - face my fears and bought some Distress sprays Stains - 3 Basic colors - Yellow - Blue and Pink (not Red - a girl needs her pinks) Mustard Seed - Salty Ocean and Picked Raspberry And I took a plunge!

I Spritzed a cardstock with Some water and then added Distress Spray stains in Mustard Seed and Salty Ocean. I tried to keep the blue on the upper part to also look like sky which is visible through the foliage of the shades of green and yellow. Then when it was still a bit damp I run it through the beautiful Blossom Field Embossing folder.

I chose these adorable Simon says stamp - Love Birds die set for the theme and chose to make an Anniversary card! Did some Inlaid die cutting for the body of the birds. As I pieced the bits back in their position I also chose to ink blend a darker ink at the sides of the pieces for some variation.

I added some Sparkle Rainbow Illusion Gems by Crafty Meraki!
Check out Crafty Meraki website for their gorgeous Gem collection (along with dies and stamps).

We have, the very talented  Jolanda Johnson of The Inquespot Studioas our Guest Designer for this challenge. Hop on to her blog to see her beautiful take on this challenge.

I have a Video on my You tube channel with some water color techniques you could try! Hope you will like them.

Happy Crafting :)
