Disclaimer - I am not a movie buff, I am so bad at watching them that I don't even remember the story.
But also,
I am a huge Period Drama Fan.. as huge as their Victorian Skirts. I think it is because of my High school English teacher, who encouraged us to read the Classics. And that's how I got smitten by Louisa May Alcott's Little Women. As a 15 yr old, living in India, not accustomed about the world much, She continued my travel to the Americas. Previously, as a kid I had visited England with Enid Blyton, the cliffs, the beaches, the caves, the rickety fences, the quaint cottages and the friendships.
Little Women, took me inside their homes - the families, the intricacies of relationships, the longing of wars and difficult period. As a teenager, I am sure you understand what it meant to me! Then came the time when English channels and movies were broadcasted in India on through Cable TV with Hallmark, Star Movies and BBC showing the real world. That is when My favourite Genre to watch movies became - Adaptations. I would love to watch all the Classics and match it with the movie I had in my head. Do the rose bushes and the lacy bonnets look just like how I had in my head? Is Mr Laurence really so handsome?
This was a time when it all became real to me - through Adaptations. From all the Jane Austen Novels to the books like Rebecca, To Kill a mockingbird or Where the Crawdads sing - I understood the world in a better way.
I based my frame on any place, the people and homes that comes alive during the reading of a good novel and perhaps the film adaptation that follows …. plus I really wanted to use these Spellbinder book dies!
I hope you like my Take !
