Happy Rakhi - DIY Cash envelopes with Crafty Meraki

 Hello sweet friends,

Many of you would know the Hindu festival of Rakhi also called Rakhshabandhan. It is just around the corner and I had a perfect idea for making some Rakhi crafts with the adorable stamp set Happy Rakhi. This day the sisters tie Rakhi which is a decorated silk or cotton thread to their brother's wrists and pray for their long lives and in turn, the brothers promise to look after their sisters, always. Also, the brothers give their sisters money. So I planned to make some Cash envelopes :)

For the envelope, I took a paper that measures 8 by 81/2 inches. The longer side, will be divided into 3 segments and is scored at 1 1/2 inches and from the other side at 3 inches.

Also I am scoring on the other two sides at a distance of 1 inch and the paper is cut with scissors, like the picture below.

I burnish at all the scored lines and also round the corners of one of the sides.

And the final step is to use tape runner or liquid glue to adhere the 3 inch flap. And here you have a quick and easy envelope for gifting purpose.

Now with the envelope made, I use Happy Rakhi sentiment and a stamp with Rakhi, that I heat embossed with gold embossing powder. On the corner I used the leaf banner, called Toran in Hindi from Happy Ugadi stamp set and stamped it in dark green color.

I colored two images of the sister tying Rakhi to brother from Happy Rakhi stamp set with Copics, fussy cut it and added to my cash envelopes.

These sweet envelopes are perfect to have in stash if you celebrate Rakhi!
