Painting White flowers - Altenew

 Hello dear crafters!

Today I share something that has given me confidence to try new things and helped me shed my fear of watercoloring! If you saw my last watercoloring attempt - I should admit that - it started from there. And this card - that has been something I always wanted to do but could never attempt, has made me more confident with watercolors - like never before. Since the time I got my hands on lovely Altenew 24 pan set watercolors - I have only got better! You may not see it - may be it's not better in your eyes but for someone who was not a colorist at all - this is the place I didn't even expect I will land :D

This is my entry for Pair a flower contest! I know I made one already - but this is something I always wanted to try and was feeling very inspired after my Cosmos Framed decor.

Blog

I know they are not the same flowers - but African daisies are one of my favourite flowers and they look so similar to Gerberas, the only thing different, being the number and layer of petals. I have always looked at painting of white flowers and got mesmerized on how shadows are at work to make the flower stand out. And Paint a flower contest gave me the perfect challenge to try it!

I started with stamping Paint - a -flower - African Daisy stamp set with Silver stone ink (Therese's work made me buy it) and first masked all the flowers and leaves with masking fluid - colored my background black, removed the masking fluid and then with hints of yellow, purples and grey colored my flowers and then the leaves.

I used my one of the most used dies - Mix and match for the frame and found a perfect off white cardstock for the base. As I was making this card - I was thinking of a dear card maker friend, Michelle Wallace who recently lost her husband. I thought I will send it to her, so left the front without a sentiment,

I am not someone who is easily proud of myself - because I fear of getting complacent! In my head I have to keep learning and do better than yesterday - so I can see my own growth. Also, I was finally able to use masking fluid, I was afraid it will dry before I even open it :P

I hope you liked my attempt. If you are already here and fear watercolors like me - you can check out this video that's when I didn't take a plunge into watercoloring :P After this things may change :D
