Bees - Thinking of you

Image
Hello crafty friends, I am back from my sweet little trip and itching to craft. So I did a quick survey of the challenges I follow and thought of a card. Using one third of the card has been in my mind for a CAS card and I took cue from few challenges for this sweet little.. oh my God..a One Layer Card! I always dread an OLC and then when done.. am super proud! I used a retired stamp set from Jane's Doodles called Garden friends and did masking for the sentiment from MFT somebunny set. The squiggle behind the bees is from Lawn Dawn's Winter Penguin. I hope you like my CAS card.  Joining in at CASE this sketch Less is more CASology Addicted to stamps Water cooler challenges

Hello dear crafters, A new week and a new challenge is up at Cupcake Inspirations. This fortnight we are sponsored by Crafty Sentiments Design  and you have to create something with Magical Creatures! Inspired by Loll - CASE 7

Image
Hello everyone, I am writing this post while sitting in God's own country - Kerala. The Southern most state in India. But I had made my Inspired by Loll card before starting for this little vacation. A little about this CASE. I have admired this technique since the first time I saw it and also The flower challenge had it as their challenge, but I had not tried it. This snail card by Loll was too cute to resist trying  Paper piecing . Loll's cutie snail is the reason I took out my pattern paper from hndmd called Super kids for paper piecing this Comforting hugs Cactus by Paper Smooches . If you ever try paper piecing, use a black marker (or the colour you stamp with) to colour the edge of the paper for a cleaner look. Then I took a bright pattern paper by Papericious for the card base. Here's a closer look at the paper piecing. I was unnecessarily getting intimidated by it, I think it's as easy as fussy cutting and the effect is awesome. Wha

Inspired by Loll - CASE 6

Image
Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am glad you stopped by at my little crafty corner. It's time to get inspired by Loll Thompson again and this time the card am going to CASE has a super cool texture and the technique is very addictive. The technique is called Tissue paper watercolouring. The card I'll CASE is this and a lovely video where you can learn how to do it is, here . Loll has a page dedicated to techniques, if you'd like to see and learn, here's the link . Isn't it a beauty? Loll's card has gold details too, I skipped that part and only used two layers of tissue paper and Distress inks in Wilted violet, Festive berries, Picked raspberry and Spiced marmalade in top to bottom sequence. Here's my take on Loll's card- more of a Silhouette card.  Here's the close up of the Panel.. look at that texture.. and that watercolour effect! I hope you like it and would try this cool technique yourself too.

Caution : Butterflies fluttering by!

Image
Hello everyone, I recently got a Butterfly stamp from an indian stamp company - Mudra stamps and this beautiful creature has been getting a lot of love lately. I have always wanted to participate in Twofers challenge but then.. yes.. I made excuses! No excuses for the butterfly challenge this time. For the first card, I used this lovely butterfly from Mudra stamps from my work last week on the crayon panel. I fussy cut it and.. then thought of playing with the card. I chose a sentiment from Lawn fawn - You colour my world.. and planned to heat emboss it on a black card base in white. So "my life's pretty colourless.. but YOU - my beautiful butterfly- color my world". Card - 1 And my second card was done using some masking and coloured with Tombow markers. I think they look pretty in those colours too. I was very apprehensive as they might not look very pretty in only one shade for one butterfly. Card - 2

Kitties hug

Image
Hello there, I am glad you stopped by. I have had a busy week and no crafting days. But today, I had to do something and I visited few blogs to get some inspiration. Mother's day is over, but I just wish if I could hug my mother anytime I wanted. My son is a cuddle ball and I thank God for this precious child and his love. I saw Tracey's adorable Elephant on Muse and I wished I had an elephant too.. but then I could use what I had. I had these super cute kitties..  hugging, just like a mom would hug her kid. So inspired by the grey of the elephant and the cuteness, I made this card. The Kitties stamp and the sentiment is Comforting hugs from Paper smooches and the rays are from a stencil from Craftyscrappers. When I thought of using grey (Grey brown) , another challenge popped up in my mind where I knew the challenge has grey - Less is more. As this card was going to be CAS, I thought of adding some yellow for the background. Some interest with stars like Tracey'

Hello everyone, I am so thrilled and honored to be joining the CASology team, as a guest designer this week.   I have a card to inspire you to join us for this week's cue - Copper. Well, I am sure you'd be as clueless as I was, or may be less, as to what can be Copper? So a little brainstorming and Finally.. getting to use all the Chemistry I studied in college.. Copper.. Cu.. C U soon.. Yayyy!  I am sure my Chemistry professor would be proud of me (hehe). Gir Lion- IQCG #47

Image
Hello dear friends, Have you entered your quilling at Indian Quilling challenge for the month of May? I have done a non traditional quilling for this month's Inspiration post. The idea to do this came from the AF unit I am based at.. We are called the Gir Lions. Gir Lions are found in the western most corner of India.. And we are found there too! So I thought, why not make a Quilled project that I can present to the Unit ... And what can be better than gifting a Lion..by one of the Lionesses (wink). This image is a picture that adores the doors of the Officers' mess.. and that's all about the inspiration. Now that IQCG has the colour scheme that I could use, I got an opportunity to do this.. big task. I used 5 mm strips of paper in orange and brown  for this project and it's done on an A3 sized paper. Join in at IQCG with your take on the colours for the month and also see the beautiful inspiration the Design team has put together for you.

Inspired by Loll - CASE 5

Image
Hello crafty friends, What have you been doing this weekend? I have been CASEing Loll Thompson and also doing some other cards. This week I am CASEing Loll's that card which she CASEd from Colleen  who had CASEd Kimberly  . Now, this is learning- my guru learning from others and well, I do the same.  I am so touched to see everyone giving credits to each other. How supportive and encouraging this community is! Here's Loll's  card This technique is called Water reactive colouring. Doesn't it look cool? I had to try this tone-on- tone look.. and I also had Distress oxide to play it with. I loved this technique! I did a little masking for the design to be on my top half of the card, then, I used Lawn Fawn's Rose gold embossing powder to emboss this beautiful stamp called Floral zen from an Indian company, Peek - a - boo designs . And did emboss resist with Candied Apple Distress oxide ink. Hand lettering for my sentiment.. and tadaa.. here's m

Blue florals

Hello everyone, When we were kids, we always used to put the new words we learnt in use. This card is similar to those days, this time as a student of card making. I had started with quilled cards, then I thought having stamps and dies makes a card better. But now I think it's not how many products you have but it's how you put your products to use. This is surely because of the confidence I have gained seeing all the lovely artists make card and learning from them. After almost a week with no time for cardmaking I went through few of the challenege blogs I follow to get some ideas and inspiration and decided to make this card. I used a scallop circle die and cut a scalloped window from the masking paper. Masking my card panel I blended the distress inks in the shades of blue . After it had dried I used Persian Elements from Mudra stamps and stamped in Memento Tuxedo black ink and  heat set it using Wow clear gloss Embossing powder on it. OK.. I was really scared to d
